Sir,
Five days after the Georgian conflict began, President Bush said that the level of violence is unacceptable. However, after over five years since the Iraq conflict began it seems that the level of violence there is tolerable, by his silence!

On Mr. Obama's recent European tour he said he wants to see the U.S.A. forces in Iraq (135.000), withdrawn and sent to Afghanistan to end that conflict. This sounds like another Mr. Bush in sheeps clothing. And for all this talk of war an Irish all
party committee is to be formed to honour and praise him! Violence begets violence!

And then there is the Lisbon question again. We see that the Georgian President making speeches in front of two flags. One is the Georgian flag and the other is the European Union flag. Now everyone in Ireland knows that Georgia is not one of the twenty seven countries if the European Union! So what kind of a president abuses the flag of the European Union!! And the media is silent of this issue!

And did Poland discuss in the European Union that is decided to allow the U.S.A to locate its missile shield on Poland territory – on European Union territory!!
It's all more lisbama!!
Yours,
Peter Kennedy, 18 Sutton Park, Sutton, Dublin 15.

Ed's note: Other commentators have suggested that the European Union flag referred to by Mr Kennedy was in fact a NATO flag, not an EU flag. If this is not the case please advise: michael.daly@donegaldemocrat.com
