Donegal gaelic football captain Kevin Cassidy has claimed that he had part of his ear bitten in the early hours of Sunday morning after being attacked by a gang.
Cassidy claimed in a national newspaper today that he was making his way home when he was allegedly confronted by a number of people in the Middletown area of Bunbeg shortly after 2.30am. The wing-back had been a guest at the new Voodoo nightclub, which was officially opened that night by Celtic midfielder Aiden McGeady.

"I was lucky to get away with even what I got," Cassidy claimed in Thursday's Irish Daily Star. "There were about 30 of them."

Cassidy reportedly made his comments on Wednesday evening as he was at Bunbeg Garda Station preparing to make a formal complaint about the incident. "I am just at the Garda Station now," he told the Star. "I was assaulted."

It is understood that a number of people were interviewed in Falcarragh Garda Station on Sunday morning, although no arrests were made. Investigations are continuing. Mr Cassidy was not available for comment today.
